Dr. Sainamole Kurien P.

Dr. Sainamole Kurian P., graduated from Kerala Agricultural University, began her career in KAU in 1999 as Asst. Professor at Cardamom Research Station, Pampadumpara, Idukki district. Serving for five years at CRS Pamapadumpara focusing on diseases of cardamom and black pepper, she has one POP recommendation and about ten publications during the period. Secured Ph.D degree in Plant Pathology in 2011 and the topic for research was “Endophytic microorganism mediated systemic resistance in cocoa against Phytophthora palmivora”.She is one of the pioneer workers in Kerala in the field of endophytes. She has worked as Plant Pathologist in the AICRP on vegetable crops for a period of twelve years and also carried out research on diseases of vegetable crops under protected structures as part of an externally aided project. She has three POP recommendations, three first reports of fungal pathogens and several publications for her credit in the field of vegetables. While working in AICRP(VC), she has associated in UG, PG and PhD courses offered by the Dept. of Plant Pathology, College of Horticulture and also guided PG and PhD students of the department. She is a recipient of both ICAR junior research fellowship and ICAR senior research fellowship for PG studies. Joined Dept. of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture in October 2019. She has won awards for best oral and poster presentations in international and national symposia. Taken charge as the Head of Department, Plant Pathology on 31st July 2021.
