AGROMET ADVISORY SERVICES

YEAR OF START of AAS in Kerala : 1991-92

Five AMFU/GKMS centers under Kerala Agricultural University

  • Central zone – COH, Vellanikkara
  • Northern zone – RARS, Pilicode
  • Southern zone - COA, Vellayani
  • Problem area zone – RARS, Kumarakam
  • High range zone – RARS, Ambalavayal

 

OBJECTIVE/ACTIVITIES

  1. Field visits and  identification of stage and state of the crops
  2. Problem  identification
  3. Receiving weather forecast from IMD
  4. Discussion with Agromet Advisory Board
  5. Preparation of Agromet Advisory Bulletin in both Malayalam and English on every Tuesday and Friday based on medium range weather forecast and stage & state of the crops
  6. Dissemination of Agromet Advisory Bulletin to stakeholders
  7. Analysis of weather forecast
  8. Farmers awareness programe were conducted on all the Agroclimatic zones of Kerala
