Basic Information

Genesis

The Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (CPBMB) was established in 1996 with the main objective of strengthening teaching, research and field outreach activities in biotechnology at Kerala Agricultural University. The centre has been declared as the 17th statutory department (Department of Plant Biotechnology) under the Faculty of Agriculture in 2009.

Vision/ Objective

The Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology keeps the vision to grow as the premier teaching, research and extension centre in Plant Biotechnology in Kerala. This centre has the objective to train the M. Sc. (Agri.) in Plant Biotechnology and Ph. D. in Plant Biotechnology students in the cutting edge areas of the subjects. The centre is the hub of plant molecular biology and biotechnology research in KAU and performs research in latest technologies in Plant Biotechnology.
