Dr. P Anitha

PROFILE                              :

Dr. P. Anitha has complete her graduation in 1994 and Master’s in 1997 from the Kerala Agricultural University and subsequently completed Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences (Vegetable Sciences) with specialization in Vegetable Breeding from  the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi in the year 2002. After completing her studies she joined in the Dept. of Agriculture, Govt. of Kerala. Later joined as Assistant Professor in the Kerala Agricultural University in 2002

Experience

• Twenty three  years of experience in teaching, research and extension activities in the field of horticulture

Research guidance

• Guided eight M.Sc. students and three Ph.D. students as major advisor
• Currently guiding three Ph.D. research programmes

• Thirty four research papers/ publications, one book

Professional Recognition/ Award

• Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Horticulture- Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) for pursuing Master’s Programme (1995-1997)
• Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) in Horticulture- Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) for pursuing Doctoral Programme (1997-2001)
• Associate in the Development of Two Ginger varieties, “KAU Chandra” and “KAU Chithra”
• Third Best Poster Award for 2 Posters in the National Conference on “Food and Nutritional Security through Vegetable Crops in Relation to Climate Change (NC -VEG-2017)”  organized by the Indian Society of Vegetable Science, Varanasi, 2017
• Third Best poster Award for one paper entitled” A new leaf spot and stem blight of cucurbits from Kerala” in the AICRP (Veg. Crops) Golden Jubilee Symposium 2022, held at IIVR, Varanasi from 20-22 Dec, 2022
