Points to be added

Germplasm

Maintain a wide diversity of germplasm of orchids, anthuriums, foliage plants, seasonal flowers, Ocimum, native ornamentals, ferns, heliconia and water plants

 

Orchids

12 native orchids added to the germplasm. 4 native orchids allotted with IC No; Eria mysorensis (IC no. 631592), Acampe praemorsa (IC no. 631594), D. crumenatum (IC no.631591) Rhynchostylis retusa (IC no. 631593).

 

Seasonal flowers

One white spontaneous mutant spotted which was allotted with IC 637260. The causal organism of bacterial wilt of marigold identified as Enterobacter cloacae.

 

 

Native ornamentals

Set up a conservation garden for indigenous, endemic potential ornamentals. Six native ornamentals were allotted with IC number. Identified native ornamentals for various landscaping purposes. Plants for butterfly and bee gardens were identified.

Ocimum

Identified promising lines of O.tenuiflorum for commercial cultivation

 

Lotus

Fourteen accessions were collected from different regions of Kerala
