Dr. B. Ajithkumar

Dr. B. Ajithkumar, Associate Professor, completed PhD from AAU, Anand and now heading the Department of Agricultural Meteorology, CoA at KAU from August 2012. As a part of teaching programme, involved in UG & PG teaching and guided 14 M.Sc. students. As a part of extension activities, many farmers awareness programme on climate change & agriculture were conducted in different parts of Kerala. It was a privilege to conduct the National Seminar on Agricultural Meteorology during the year 2020 and also State level meeting of Stakeholders on Agromet Advisory Services in Kerala. Under research, I am handling five research projects funded by ICAR, MoES, State plan, etc,. & developed a mobile app ASK “Agromet Services for Kerala” for the farmers of Kerala. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the National Geophysical Institute, Hyderabad and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) with KAU under my leadership. Published 52 research papers and co- authors of many chapters in text books related to Agricultural Meteorology. Received many awards during the national and inter-national seminars in the field of Agricultural Meteorology. Served as executive committee member in the Association of Agrometeorologists & secretary of AAM Thrissur chapter for the last six years.
