Dr. Jiju P. Alex

Dr. Jiju P. Alex, presently, the Director of Extension, KAU is an eminent scientist in the field of Agricultural Extension, e-Extension and LSG. He has more than 20 years of experience in the concerned field. He started his carrier as Scientist at CMFRI, Kochi. Later he joined Kerala Agriculture University during 1999.   He performed duties of Head (Communication and HRD division) at Information Kerala mission while he was on deputation).  Currently, he is the Principal Investigator of a project for developing goods and service portal for the Kerala Agricultural University and SUSTHITA SAMRUDHI – (R&D support for LSGI). Some of the accomplished research works includes:(1)Establishment of Centre for Studies on Technology- Society Interface and Policy in Agriculture, (2) Evaluation of the impact of MGNREGS on agriculture (3)Sustainable Agricultural Development through Decentralized  Planning (4)Field studies for establishing Citizen Service Centres for single window transaction of major functions of urban LSGIs in the state(6)Ideation and design of a Management Information System viz., KVK- Activity Management Information System (K-AMIS) (7)Action research programme on “Evolving Participatory Approaches for  Assessing Food Security in a Village” etc.

He has been the coordinator for various training programmes of KAU and Government of Kerala. Dr. Jiju P. Alex has attended and presented papers in various national and international conferences such as International Conference on Planet under Pressur eat Excel, London; International Interdisciplinary Dialogue on ‘Reaping the Demographic Dividend in Agriculture and Rural Development’ held by the MSSRF; International Conference on ‘Innovative Approaches for Agricultural Knowledge Management: Global Extension Perspectives’ held by the International Society for Extension Education at New Delhi; International Conference on ‘Reaching out to people: Achieving Millennium Development Goals through Innovative Public Service Delivery’ held by  the Network of Asia- Pacific Schools and Institutes of Public Administration and Governance(NAPSIPAG and ICTs for Agricultural Extension and Rural Development: Applications, Roles and Innovations held by Communication Research Association, Australia. He has also authored two books and contributed 7 book chapters, 21 research papers, 7 manuals and 10 popular articles. He was the winner of second best Information Technology Programme in the country instituted by the Computer Society of India as well as the winner of the best presentation award for the presentation on ‘improving the efficacy of watershed development programmes in Kerala: A multi dimensional analysis of the initiatives by local self government institutions’, in the 23^rd Kerala Science Congress held by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment.
